Losing weight, burning fat, getting lean, etc all comes from a caloric deficit.

How do you get yourself into a caloric deficit you might ask?? You start by tracking every single thing you put into your mouth!

Now don't start tossing out all your food in your fridge and pantry, because losing weight/fat doesn't have to be miserable and boring! Eating the same foods you usually eat, but in different quantities can do the trick, but if you don't have the discipline to know when to STOP eating, maybe you should get rid of all things that could become a vice. Just simply use one of the many free apps out there to track and manage your caloric goal.

One of the GREATEST tools for this job you can find is- MyFitnessPal. This app is FREE and very easy to use! Just like anything new, it may be uncomfortable at first to remember to track each meal you eat and any fluids you drink, but if you are ready to make a change then this should be a non-negotiable.

Once you download the app, simply fill out the questionnaire and set an account up. NOTE- When setting a goal weight to lose OR gain, make sure you are not losing OR gaining more than 1lb. per week. If you try to go too hard out the gate with this process, you have a high potential of falling off. Slow, steady, and consistent weight loss OR gain is the sustainable route.

Buy a inexpensive food scale(Amazon or Walmart) to be able to weigh out your foods and liquids. If you do not weigh these things out, you will not know how much of what you are truly eating. You will also need to know weights and sizes to input into the app to track accurately.  

From Day 1 and on, you will need to track everything you put into your mouth, no matter how small you may think it is. This habit and discipline you build will only give you perspective into how much OR how little you have been eating. It also will be a nice eye-opener into how many calories in some of those yummy snacks and foods you may eat ;)

Over time, you may not have to rely on the app so much to continue losing weight on maintaining that goal weight. The app can be a great tool to use indefinitely or to just help build perspective within yourself with foods until you can learn to intuitively eat.
